Pictured here is a shield to protect a turbine engine from heat. A heat shield is a protective layer on a spacecraft or ballistic missile that is designed to protect it from the high temperature of atmospheric entry, on a body with an atmosphere, such as Earth, Mars and Venus. This particular part is made from Inconel because it is a oxidation and corrosion resistant material well suited for service in extreme environments. When heated, Inconel forms a thick, stable, passivating oxide layer protecting the surface from further attack. Inconel alloys are typically used in high temperature applications. Whether you need a machined part out of stainless steel or in this case Inconel we here at Quick Draw are capable of handling all your needs for machined parts from print to a final complete finished product. |
